Gibsons, British Columbia has been named the most liveable community in the world in the under 20,000 population at the International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom) held in Pilsen, Czech Republic (October, 2009). Gibsons was also the winner of the outstanding award for Planning for the Future.
The LivCom Awards is an international competition endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme.
